  • For those with complex, chronic, serious illness
  • For people with limited mobility

  • House calls in the comfort of their own home.

Dr. WinklerPrins is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. She received her medical training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.  In 1984 she moved to the Central Coast to establish a successful private medical practice with David Ralston, MD.

After starting a family, Minke chose to stay home to raise her sons while volunteering for various school, sports, arts, political and service organizations as well as serving on several boards. Completion of the Sacred Art of Living and Dying certification program sparked a growing interest in end-of-life care resulting in specialty training in that area. She completed fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice and the Institute for Palliative Medicine in July 2012, successfully achieving board certification in this new specialty. Minke has consultative staff privileges @ French Hospital Medical Center and Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Home Care Physicians.

Dr. WinklerPrins comes from a medical family, with a sister in critical care nursing and her brother, father, and both grandfathers all physicians. She was born in The Netherlands, immigrated to the US after spending her formative years in Newfoundland, and grew up in Michigan. Minke is delighted to return to the San Luis Obispo now after completing recent training in San Diego. She serves on the Board of Directors of Hospice SLO, is pleased to return to primary care medicine and looks forward to serving the community providing in-home medical care and getting to know her new patients and their families.

Minke enjoys her family and friends, nature, hiking, road trips, foreign travel, good food, stimulating conversation, and almost anyone she meets.
